Jaded is a new guild for a new game. Myself and Raelin are going to work our hardest to keep things running smoothly, but this is your guild too.
If you have any suggestions about the guild, or any criticism, please feel free to discuss them here. Nothing is ever set in stone, and we want everybody to enjoy their time in GW2 and their time in Jaded as well.

So I had an idea and I'm trying to get some opinions from you guys about it: having a Guild Lottery.
Basically, everyone would put in a pre-determined amount of gold throughout the week, and there would be a drawing choosing a winner.
The idea is that a percentage of the funds raised will go towards increasing our overall capital, as well as funding rewards for Guild Events, etc.
Just a few questions on the idea:
1- Would you participate? It will probably start small, at 1g or less per ticket.
2- Would you prefer a drawing of names, or a series of numbers like the real lottery? Here's a brief layout of what I mean:
Drawing of names would be everybody buys a ticket, and one person is guaranteed to win every week. The pool will be a percentage of the funds raised. For instance, if ten people buy ten tickets for 1g each, the winner could win 5g [percentages may vary]).
A series of numbers would be each individual picks, say, four numbers between one and one-hundred, and at the end of the week, four numbers are drawn. This means a number of possibilities. It means that, there may be weeks that nobody wins, and, as a result, the lottery 'pot' would increase. It also means that you have the potential to win more in one lottery. For instance, if ten people buy ten 1g tickets over three weeks, and then you guess 3 of 4 numbers, you could potentially win 20-25g.
The numbers and win-percentages will naturally be shifted over time, but I'm just looking for your feedback.

Since there is no rush for anything such as the Hall of Monuments, I will probably just be pumping the gold into the guild anyway. However, I would probably save some to participate in the lottery. As for the method, a real lottery would be more interesting however maybe on a smaller number scale so that it may build up but someone can still win on a semi-normal basis.

I like the lottery idea and I also believe Shira made a good point with the smaller number scale. And it would be nice to have a program or something that can generate the random numbers like MATLAB haha Shira knows what im talking about.

I would like to suggest something that I had run in another game. I don't know if this idea is popular or something that I just made up. Also, I should disclose that I haven't actually played GW2 at the time of this post, but I can't see it being too different from other games with waypoints. I call it a waypoint run. We plot out an efficient path to the most advantageous or dangerous waypoints for a character to have. We advertise to the server (via the GW2 forums, in-game shouts, skywriting, etc...) that we'll be making the run to collect waypoints, and they are most welcome to join us on our Guild-created event. There will be free punch and pie at the end! Or other smaller events. Then on the date we've set, we go for a " Jaded Jaunt" through our designated path. We'll keep the GW2 forum thread updated on the route and make sure to remind people that they can switch servers temporarily to join us. Make it a real event, with announcements and a few days notice. I'd suggest posting it at the beginning of the week, and building up steam for the run on Fri/Sat/Sun. The upcoming in-game Halloween event on the 28th would be the perfect time to start announcing "The next event" to the server. It'll be flooded with players that are already interested in events. We could run it Nov 2nd/3rd/4th. This event provides value in several ways: - Newbies can safely get these waypoints
- Increase our guild's presence on the server
- Get new members
- Potentially getting highlighted by a GW2 mod
- Meet new friends
- Chicks dig completed virtual maps
Let me know what the guild thinks. I'd be willing to run and maintain the thread on the GW2 forum if the guild would be willing to commit to doing the run (and getting the word out occasionally in-game). I can do the branding, marketing, whatever, but some help would be nice :]

I don't want to just shoot down your idea, but I'm struggling to understand the necessity of it.
Exploration is very natural in GW2. If you don't have a waypoint it's because you either never needed to go there (such as going to Disea Plateau as a Human) , never cared to go there (players who focus on Story, PvP, or power leveling), or have no business going there (too low level).
I'll mull it over a bit.

What about this same idea for WvWvW instead of general PvE? I know there are many players who've never fully experienced WvW due to the PvP factor and going with guildies would help players new/old learn about the WvW mechanics, helps each other achieve map completions towards world completion, and the fun factor can never be discounted After my somewhat limited experience in WvW, it is definitely something worthwhile to experience, and I love that I'm learning more about it with my guildies instead of on my own. Snail's bullets could still apply (except for the last one ) as we could increase our presence in WvW and begin a recruiting drive within WvW. Just my .02

I like zooey's take on this idea. Because it can be very hard to get point in WvW just by yourself you always need to be in a group in WvW otherwise you are going to get wrecked.

luls, chicks dig completed virtual maps =^P. Snail your idea sounds similar to what we did when we ran a level 1 raid. We spontaneously decided everyone that wanted to join us should make a nooblet and we ran through the charr area as a huge mob killing anything and everything....everything. we ended up finding about 3 people to join us and, in turn, the guild plus we got very far into the area. Eventually we found ourselves in the level 15 area as a bunch of level 6's and got overrun. It was a ton of fun though and we'll probably be doing more of these events soon.

I thought about an idea last night when someone was looking for a run. How about guild story mode runs for those members that are still leveling up and unlocking dungeons. Could just make it one night a week or on certain days. Shoot, I'm already 80 but have yet to do any of my story modes ;D and I'm sure there's plenty of others that have a few left to run yet as well.

I like the WvWvW waypoint run idea too.
After having played a little bit this week, it does seem that you can get whatever you want from any town - so location isn't as important as I had suspected. I can put out a post on the main forum to ping for interest, but I think V might be right.
I also like the lvl 1 raid idea :]
I suppose it doesn't matter _what_ we do as much as that we're doing something. Bonus points if we invite others to join us.

I'm just going to put what was initially the Boulder Dash event in here. Basically, I wanted to start at a waypoint, and have a mini scavanger hunt in which people would have to go and find the pick-up item "Boulder" and bring it back to me. It turns out that idea doesn't work, because I was under the impression that if you used a Waypoint while you had a bundle in your hands, you would drop the bundle, and I was incorrect. Since that idea fell flat on it's face for the time being, I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea to put together another level 1 raid this Saturday instead.
