P.S. I'd contribute to a commander title for a Jadite as well Another thought about commander titles that I'd like to add. With 12 guilds in our alliance, we could potentially have missions going across more than just one map (i.e. Borderlands, EB) which could actually provide good usage to investment for the coin s/he spent towards the title. The success and growth potential as the alliance grows as we combine forces seems extremely promising and exciting! Looking forward to it

Random conversation change:
I have mixed feeling about Guilds funding Commanders. The pros and cons seem pretty obvious to me, but I'm just going to leave this topic open for discussion before I put in my two cents.
What is everybody's opinion on Guild-funded commander tags?

As long as its someone in said leadership position of said guild, such as you or Rae, it wouldnt be that big of a deal. I dont understand any cons. But I really dont get what the tag does beside the diamond.

The tag also gives you the ability to use Squad chat which is a chat section that commanders can type out their words and it is seen in a different color on chat so people can tell what to do easier. Aside from that I think that a "Guild funded" commander might not be something to do, However, if individual guildies want to put money towards a commander or something of the like then i would have to agree and I would also be more than happy to do so as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Guild funding a commander tag, as long as it doesn't stir up any drama. I would even pitch in to help the cause.

I really need to back out of a reply and see what is said if I have walked away from my computer for an hour. I agree with Zooey and Shira. That would probably be the best way to avoid drama, then all donations are made on a personal basis and the leadership avoids snubbing anyone.

On one hand that commander would be representing Jaded, its almost like sponsorships. ALMOST. They funnel in money to something so that their product and image look better, this really is no different. With that being said, why not?
On the other hand, 100g is no small number, and there is never a garuntee that a commander would commit themselves to the guild, for a long period of time.
It's a risk, but in the end if you make the decision wisely, I feel like the guild should be proud to sponsor Commanders, and shouldnt be afraid to do so. If of course, you make the decision wisely.
As far as picking favorites go, and drama. We're all adults here, I don't think there is any question that some members are not only more active, but have a lot of experience in the WvW arena, and if you really want to veer away from "favorites" maybe hold a vote? That way no one can point fingers.
In the end, V, Shira, Rae, it's your guild. You worked hard to make it what it is today, and in the end everyone should respect the decisions you make, whether they agree or not.
Thats just my opinion.

This isn't a decision that isn't going to be made overnight one way or the other, but I feel the need to remind everybody that:
it's your guild too
We just founded it and do our best to facilitate a friendly environment for Jaded to grow. Your opinions are important on many matters, this one included. As such, if there are any other opinions on guild-funded commanders, I would love to hear them: questions, concerns, and all.

I'm going to take this juncture to bring back an old idea we had. Back when we were starting we tried a guild lottery. Essentially everyone could buy "tickets" at 10s a pop and be entered into the lottery. We limited these "tickets" (numbers that were drawn on a random number generator by V) to three a person and wanted to run it weekly. However it was something that never kicked off very well as we were still a growing guild. The winner got at least one gold and then half of the earnings that were made overall. We were hoping to use it to fund things for the guild like the mini pets we randomly give out. If there was enough interest generated in doing the lottery again we could, and would, definitely set aside these earnings to pick up commander slots. This way people wouldn't be outright donated money towards something that they wouldn't necessarily get and would instead have a chance to also make bank. That and the guild would also benefit from this event.

Im down for the lottery. It gives people like me, who like to make and spead, money something to spend money on that would help others out aswell as the guild. I am more then happy to help shell out some gold, if we want to try and get some things going.

I realize I'm new and have been relatively quiet in guild chat and what not.. However there is one major con to a guild funding a commander.... If the commander leaves the guild there goes the money, and guild leaders aren't exempt from that. The last guild I was in, a lot of people pitched in so one of the guild leaders could get their commander badge. Now then, to their credit, they did earn that right to have it, right up to the point where they quit because Anet introduced a new tier of gear. That same guild leader didn't like that, and quit... Which was a waste of money for everyone. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, and you'll have to understand why if it's decided to go this route, I won't be contributing... not trying to be anti-guild or anything, I just saw first hand what could happen if this goes forward.

Thank you for your feedback, Dub I have similar concerns, but just felt it would be a good idea to put the conversation on the table. Either way, this is not likely something we will be doing in the next few weeks.

Im sure this has been brought up, but I am not reading through 4 pages of this topic to figure it out. Not without some wine.
Anyways, I'll be real. I've discussed this with Shira, and i'm sure hes brought this to your attention, but we need more collective Jaded guild events. We need to bring our guild together more often, and be more than just a yellow sequence of letters on the bottom left of our screens. Being in Jaded needs to MEAN something different than having four of the same letters next to your name. I propose this...
Many of our unfortunate and misguided guildies are pursuing legendary's, I think getting together to do the Orr temples as a whole guild would be fun for everyone, even if they don't like PvE, they can still get to know their fellow Jadites. Not Grenth though, that guy is BS.
Anyways, I know its not exactly a stable schedule when those events are up, but we should keep an eye out for them. Get the whole guild involved in something.
Earlier today in WvW was a fantastic experience for everyone just to mess around and pwn things as a guild. We need more of those experiences both inside and outside of WvW.
