Here's my general PvE build. en.gw2codex.com/build/18942I'm not sure why but the generator doesn't offer the Hounds of Balthazar Elite Skill. So when looking at this know that my Elite skill, more often than not, is the Hounds of Balthazar for their huge amount of AoE damage. Sometimes I switch the Elite skill to Tome of Courage for dungeon runs; however, the benefit vs. the cooldown hasn't exactly been my favorite option when it comes to support. I intend to practice tome of courage more because I feel it can be helpful when timed properly. I'm enjoying the combos in this build. I like starting off with Purging Flames (combo field: fire) and hitting Leap of Faith to inflict burning. I then lay down Symbol of Wrath (combo field: light) and finish with Binding Blades. Depending on what's recharging, I'll then start with Purging flames or Symbol of Wrath and finish with Whirling Wrath. I was using Mace/Shield recently and I've decided to go back to Mace/Focus for support in PvE and use Mace/Shield for WvW. I'll post a WvW build once I'm more comfortable with the one I'm currently running. My armor is full Exotic Cleric's with Superior Dwayna runes. My accessories (1 earring, 1 amulet, 2 rings) are Exotic Beryl and Exotic Chrysocola items equally split to enhance my vitality that was lost when I equipped Cleric's armor. Not exactly sure if splitting between two types is a good idea but it's working out for me atm. The last accessory is a pow/vit/toughness based trinket from an Order of Whispers Karma vendor. Because I'm max traited in Radiance (Precision/Cond Damage) I added the Chrysocola to bump condition damage a touch while still bumping my power/vit. I added the Beryl items to enhance my crit chance a touch while also bumping my power/vit. Here is a rundown of my base stats: Health: 15,865 Attack: 2,673 Crit Chance: 29% I'm interested and open to any comments/suggestions! I definitely learn something new everyday and want to make sure I'm applying my guardian's skills and gear efficiently. Cheers!

For the most part the build seems fine. I don't know anything at all about guardian class however I did play with the build creator... although it didn't want me to have a greatsword apparently. The only thing I came out with differently was to change the 30 from radiance trait line to valor trait line. en.gw2codex.com/build/18955-guardianShira

Honor I gives a really long lasting Retaliation (24 seconds? trusting my memory), so I don't think the Radiance I is really a good investment. It's only 3sec of retaliation every 40seconds, since your heal has a bit of a cooldown. Any particular reason you use the Signet of Resolve? I personally use Shelter for the 2seconds of blockage, but if you're in full Clerics gear I'd think Healing Breeze would be a decent choice as well. I should try out Stand Your Ground some more. Giving your allies Stability can be useful against bosses. Overall I like your build I dislike maces edit: I just realized the Mace chain does a splash heal. That could be cool with Clerics Gear. Disregard my Mace comment.

I'm gonna try out this trait line to see how it feels. I wonder about the toughness because my survivability is already pretty high so I'm wondering how much my damage will change. Adding zeal could be the balancing factor. What are your thoughts about 30 in zeal and 20 in valor? Disregard my Mace comment. Thanks, V! Totally missed that Honor I, gonna change that asap! In regards to Signet of Resolve, it heals for considerably more than Shelter and has a passive condition removal every 10 seconds. Which writing that out is making me rethink Purity in my trait line As for Healing Breeze, I like it but I like melee too much. If I could somehow find my comfort zone with the staff, I would use Healing Breeze all the time. For now, I can't because all players that I would like to heal with Healing Breeze would have to be standing in a cone area in front of me. I wish it was an area heal! I <3 stability shouts/consecrations.. they've come in handy a lot from my perspective. It's always on my skill bar both in pve and wvw. lol, I know.. maces aren't popular but I love that heal and by increasing the symbol size in traits, it's even more helpful. Plus, I can place it out of combat to help with regen. Also, with mace/focus, I like that combo finisher. If I can find my zone with staff, I'll probably switch it up though Thanks again, guys! I appreciate your help. Gonna rework my trait line and practice with staff for team support.

Adding zeal could be the balancing factor. What are your thoughts about 30 in zeal and 20 in valor? My thoughts on the trait line are that you should not pick for the boost to stats alone but instead to what the traits give. The 30 in zeal and 20 in Valor is not a bad thing at all and i tried to keep it with this build set up. I went ahead and kinda took all the traits off and tried to focus it on a damage/debuff set up *mostly burning*. In the end I ended up with this. en.gw2codex.com/build/18955-guardian-build-v-2This build focuses around a constant burn or atleast a constant reapplication of, as well as giving yourself aegis. The traits also focus on improving your damage output with a greatsword *which can be changed to staff damage with a auto attack of burn *wink wink** as well as giving you precision equal to 5% of your toughness. This build has many elements of party buffing your allies still and can be helpful as a healer type class, however the main focus on this build is as a damage class and less focused on being just a healer.

Wow you changed your build a lot! I'd love to see what you finally settle on, Zooey. I still like this builder better: gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/I think it's easier to read, and it also has a nicer trait page that shows exactly what you see in the game, stats included. I'm going to go toss what I'm looking at for my Guardian in my thread as to not highjack your thread~

Sure thing! I'll re-post my build once I get the hang of things and feel comfortable running it That won't be until closer to the end of October because of my travel plans... October is a hectic month! V, that build came back as empty for me and I'd really like to see it! Totally open to trying out a variation of builds as I think there are lots of gems to be had in the trait lines. Could you re-link it please? Gonna check out your thread for guardian as well!

It was supposed to be empty, silly. I just linked a different build creator, because it displays Traits better, in my opinion.

Thanks, Melody!
I tried out Shira's build suggestion posted above and had a great time in WvW last night! I used scepter/torch and mace/shield btw
I'm gonna play with the hammer today in PvE and I'll let you know how it goes!

We weren't talking about WvW so no worries We went to complete the EB puzzle as a guild and I had JUST finished respeccing into Shira's build. It's as good a place as any to test out a build I guess. I did change Purity to Strength of the Fallen mid-way and was able to rally in the arena when we were overwhelmed. Successful test and really fun night with guildies!

My guard is just level 37, but I'm having a blast with the hammer. Yeah it seems slow and clunky but that's kinda my play style.
What are the thoughts of my esteemed and established Guardians on Hammers?
