Stopping by real quick to get the introduction out of the way so I can make dinner and get back in game hehe.
I'm Mal, new to GW2 but no so new to MMOs and computer gaming in general. I'm currently an unemployed father and husband. Used to work in the oil/gas industry as a directional driller, but since my lay off, I've come to the conclusion that after being laid off twice in three years, think it's time to figure out a new career field.
So far, as of typing this post, my highest level character is a 39 Norn guardian. I am a bit of an alt-aholic, but with only 5 character slots, I'm being forced to control myself...which is unusual in and of it's self. I hope to start running dungeons with you fine folks, just not sure where to begin quite honestly. It's weird being such a newb and not knowing the ins and outs of a game lol. I'm sure I'll pick it up sooner then later, but for right now, it's a culture shock.
I am not quite addicted to WvWvW as of yet, since I'm honestly still trying to get down the basic skills, but once I feel comfortable, I'm going to be all over that like stink on poo. Some of my fondest memories of MMO gaming have come from games like Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane and Asheron's Call...where it wasn't just PvP, but Realm vs Realm (three realms in DAOC) and the utter PvP confusion of the Darktide server in AC and controlling towns from rival guilds in Shadowbane. I don't consider myself a hardcore pvp'er at all...I am a full on carebear from the word go...but I do enjoy mixing it up now and then, especially in a guild group/horde.
Hmmm, can't think of anything else at the moment. I'm sure I'll see you all in game eventually, but until then, keep up the good fight and remember, no sense in running from the enemy, you'll only die tired.
