I don't know what I'm doing in dungeons. I've not completed many of them, I've only been in a few of the instances. When it comes to them, I am a newb in these instanced areas. Admittedly, here and now, and admitted before I even joined.
First, I want to apologize. I take full responsibility for the run blowing up. I did not know what was expected of me, I saw in chat that I needed to move; I saw in chat something about the door. So I moved to the door.
But the majority of my focus was on team health--specifically the glass canon that was on the same spot as me--and the 5 mobs in my face.
So i killed them so he did not die and when I ran to the door...that did not work out so well.
I would have preferred some...latitude...from the group. As opposed to how the situation unfolded. I do not understand why I was the only Jade member in Vent at the time when at least one of our guild members did not know what was expected and stated as much in chat before joining the group. That is something I intend to address at the end of this post.
To answer the whispers and some of the inparty talk...I did not buy this account. It did and does offend me to think that others believe this. I got to level 80 by getting my explorer title, Hearts, world events, and generally destroying every mob, player or obstacle in my path. And I did it all as a guardian without any guild assistance. Melody Cross was a level 80 Ranger for the first part of her life. She is a guardian because I decided later that it is my preferred playstyle and...I like this name
So with 3 end game characters under my belt, a third and a forth on the way, 2 of which (the necro is 75 so I hope you don't mind if I count her) without any help from anyone...I think I'm pretty good at this game. Actually, I know I'm good.
But I'm not Clarvoyant. And, to...well, I have to say this. To everyone else who runs these dungeons without vent use. You're not that good either--and I will explain that statement right now; please try not to be offended.
If you're typing cliff note strategy in chat during combat then the only other thing you're doing in that instance for your team is autoattacking with your #1 skill. At best.
So we're back to vent. In my experience, in GW1, EQ, EQ2, WoW, XBox and PS3 clans, etc, and now here--In the last 10 years I have not seen a guild last very long or function very well without considerable use of VoIP by all active members. This guild's method is ventrillo. When I'm online and available for party, I'm in our lounge. This is a courtesy I have provided to every guild that uses vent or TeamSpeak since their inception. This is one I must now require when I respond to a guild request for aid in dungeons.
To be clear, this must now become a requirement for me when responding to dungeon aid requests. I will ask further requesters to hop onto vent. If this request is ignored or denied, I will refuse to join that group. Yes, I was offended by the swearing and the whispers, but I'm a big boy and I can handle them both. That is not the reason why I say this. I say it because I know I would not be any good to you and, frankly, because I suspect I would actually hamper your efforts.
If these statements are not in line with Jade's policies, if offense has been given or my lack of knowledge is unacceptable, then I would like to know asap so that I can take proper action.
