Remember that you can gain experience simply by running around and exploring new areas.
Starting Cities are a great place to explore, and will net you a level or two, while giving you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with how your starting Race lives in Tyria.

It's also going to be incredibly easy to visit the other starting area's early on so don't feel constrained to where you began, especially if you're looking to team up with friends and other guild members who may have started out as a different race.

ya i found one of the quickest ways to level up at the beginning is through exploration
